Friends looking for friends

Would like to contact anyone at Galang Camp

I stumbled on your page in https://refugeecamps.net/GalangCamp.html, first of all I want to thank you for making refugeecamps.net, I hope it can connect the scattered families.

My name is Sindhunata, I am currently paving my way to become a future scholar in Historical Science. I have always been interested in finding the truth about marginalized people, the people who tend to be ignored by the mainstream history books.

Recently, I was granted a full scholarship to continue my education in Northwestern University USA, I will start this July. Based on my concern to the marginalized, I am planning to create a historical study about Galang Refugee Camp, particularly about their lives in the refugee camp during 1975-1996.

Perhaps you have any information about resources that I can examine, something that I can read or someone that I can get in touch with? Maybe you have story about Galang Refugee Camp? I can see from the page that you are making an effort to collect the past story from the people who might had stayed in Galang Refugee Camp. Has someone who stayed in Galang Refugee Camp ever contacted you before?

PLease contact Sindhunata Hargyono at sindhunata.hargyono@gmail.com

Looking for biological parents in Galang. Please help

Dear RefugeeCamps.net

My name is Sofie Skov, and I work for the Danish tv-program "Sporløs" (in english Find my Family).

I'm writing you, because at the moment I'm trying to help a young guy find his biological parents. He was born at Pulau Galang refugee camp, but only one day after he was born, he was given away to another couple at the camp, and there was made and "unofficial adoption" of him by UNHCR. His adoptive parents fled to Denmark with him, but after a tough childhood where he was removed from home by the authorities he is now eager to find his biological family.

I can see on your website, that you are trying to make a "refugee finder". Do you know, when this will be done? And how will it work?

And do you maybe know somebody who works at the refugee camp today, who might be able to help me find some more information in Indonesia?

Any information please email me at sofieskov@stv.dk

Sincerely

Sofie Skov
